How our hair extensions are made
Ten steps from a single ponytail to the hair you wear, and the standards behind every one of them.
Every set of Hadrill Hair extensions is 100% double-drawn Remy human hair, sourced from paid donors and made in factories Emilly Hadrill has audited in person. The process below has been refined over twenty years of fitting extensions in our own salons. It is the reason our hair lasts nine to twelve months with the right care, and the reason we can stand behind it.
Part one
Making the hair

01
Sourcing
Our own hair selectors choose only healthy ponytail hair that has never been coloured or bleached, so it takes colour beautifully and stays soft for its full life. Because the whole ponytail is used, every cuticle runs in the same direction. That is what Remy means, and it is why the hair does not tangle over time. Donors are paid a fair price for their hair, and we visit the production team to see that for ourselves.

02
Assessment
Before anything else, each ponytail is inspected. Coloured thread is tied at the top and bottom so the hair stays aligned root to tip through every later stage.

03
Colouring
Colouring is slow and deliberate to protect the hair. Experienced colour technicians work to our physical swatches for every batch, so each shade matches the colour ring you choose from. Human hair always carries slight natural variation, and matching to the ring is the priority.

04
Double drawing
A drawing tool removes shorter and uneven hairs from each ponytail, and the pass is repeated several times. The result is hair that stays full right to the ends rather than thinning out, which is what gives a finished set its weight and movement.

05
Making the extensions
Skilled technicians craft each tape, weft and clip-in by hand so the attachment is neat, discreet and shed-free. Hair that stays where it was put is the whole point of an extension, so this is where we invest most.
Part two
Quality control before it reaches you

06
Colour check
Every finished batch is checked against the colour ring before it leaves the factory, so the shade you see on the ring is the shade in the box.

07
Length check
A sample from each batch is measured. Most of our hair runs one to two inches longer than the advertised length.

08
Second drawing check
The draw is checked a second time so the ends are as full as the sample that passed.

09
Wash and wear test
The hair is deep cleansed to remove the anti-static treatment applied before packing. Our team in Australia then tests cuticle direction, strength, softness and how well the colour holds.

10
Final approval
Only hair that passes every checkpoint is released for sale. It has taken twenty years in our salons and our supply business to refine this process, and we are proud of it.
Our ethical standard
Hair that was chosen to be sold
When you buy a Hadrill product you are supporting ethically sourced hair. To us that means hair a person chose to sell, gave clear consent for, and was paid a fair price for. Nothing else qualifies.
We have a long-standing relationship with one manufacturing team, who select the 100% Remy ponytail hair our quality depends on. Emilly visits the factory herself, and our commitment runs from the donor to the packing table. We have set a Code of Conduct for the factory so that its working conditions reflect who we are as a brand.
Thank you for choosing to shop ethically.
